Virginia Miller
July 31st 1919 - Feb. 16th 1941 (21)

Virginia married on August 8th 1936 and died February 16th 1941 (21)
This note is temporary: when Claude and Harriet Wade married, they had two children in quick succession. The first was Ruth AKA Mary in January 1918 and then Virginia in July 1919. Right after two years or so of marriage Harriet left Claude and children and went to New York and married a 22 year-old soldier, Harry Banker. You can read much more about Harriet Wade's on her and Claude's pages. Consequently Claude gave up both children's for adoption. The first handover of children or at least Virginia was to a family named Miller. It's possible that it was a temporary fix until an actual adoption took place. It could be a proper adoption to the Hathaway family. Supposedly there is two different Hathaway families and I've seen it written that at least one of the Hathaway families was ken to Claude Fay. I have not found that link myself yet though. While under the name, Virginia Hathaway, she married Leland Anthony Palmer. She had three children and is believed to have died in childbirth with the fourth child. I know one was Arthur and another Gary R.
Palmer and the last one I believe is Bruce W. Palmer. one of the census reports mentions a baby no name.

I need to date and iron out Miller, Hathaway and Palmer
Wedding announcement says Mrs, Virginia Hathaway daughter of Albert Miller to Marry Leland Palmer
Note: it's possible that Miller adopted Virginia, but then maybe because of age or something she was re-adopted by the Hathaway family, then married Palmer.

Virginia married - Leland Palmer in 1936.
Ruth married - Mr. Hathaway and another Paul Peterson. Ruth might have a child Janet Peterson

Remember in one of the news clippings, they said the young girls were being taken care of by a family member named Hathaway. I bet Virginia was either adopted by the Hathaway family and that could be why this name everything else checks out the date of birth, the location, the age this is got to be Claude second born

This is a genealogy note from a family member. Which helps make sense of everything.

1930
Virginia Fay was adopted by Albert Miller. Living with his father and other children lists Virginia as John H Miller's granddaughter but Albert Miller's adopted daughter who later at 1936 married Leland Palmer.
1930 Census

Address 33 Hollister Street. (I believe it is currently an empty lot)

Shows Virginia (10 years old) listed as “granddaughter", but not blood. When Claude and Harriet separated, both children, Ruth and Virginia were basically given up for adoption and the Millers could have been the first adopted family then Virginia married Leland Hathaway. If memory serves, the two children were adopted by separate families they did not go together.

** important note. Found record that says Virginia Hathaway married name was adopted by Albert Miller, which makes sense that John H Miller is Albert's father shown in the census below. So Albert 49 years old was the adopted parent or adopted Virginia Fay

1939
Gary Richard Palmer born
Ruth Virginia had at least three possibly four children one was Arthur, the other was Gary and then there was a baby. Gary looks like he was born approximately 1939 all the other dThis is be one of Virginia's sons Gary Richard Palmer.

Gary is 26 in 1965 making DOB about 1939. It's possible Gary is still alive

1940
1940 Census (April 4th) yates County Dundee, New York Dundee is right in the finger lakes.

We see Claude's daughter, Virginia age 20, born in Pennsylvania married to Leland Palmer. Both of them are living with Leland's parents Leon and Esther.
1) Leland is a garage mechanic
2) Living at 32 Union Street. Dundee, ny
3)

Whole Palmer family were born in New York State according to the far right census report

32 Union St Dundee, NY Built 1900

1940
Date of registration was October 16, 1940 so he is still married to Virginia.

Virginia died in 1941

I believe her death certificate states she died after giving birth.
1941

This is Leland A. Palmer's 2nd wife.
This person who died was probably the stepmother to Arthur Palmer so the person is only related through marriage not blood. Otherwise the dates don't check out. She's too old. This article shows two Arthur Palmer's one was her husband, and the other was a stepso

1959
Virginia's son's Marriage
I believe this is the marriage of Virginia's son Leland A. Palmer Jr. He was born 1936 and died 1965. I should check to see if he has living children
