I remember it was the summertime when the phone rang. I answered it and the voice and the other end of the phone said tell your father that Eugene died. I don't remember if I told my father Eugene or just somebody called on the phone and said there was a death. My father and true Frank Kelsey fashion flew off the handle, but I don't remember any more about it than that. We never went to a funeral. He never talked about it to any of us kids. It was just swept under the carpet. 1971 would make me 12 years old.
